Normal classes in the school were seriously affected by the arrival of Ranjit Singh in the school as the new principal-in-charge in place of present principal-in-charge identified as H Kunjabihari this morning at 10:30am as the students came out openly from their classes and demonstrated against the arrival of the new principal-in-charge.

The students came out of their classes after the new principal-in-charge made the official announcement regarding the Durga Puja holiday of the school.

The students further demonstrated by breaking school properties including desks, benches and blackboards in their respective classes.

Later on, the students came out of the school and started disrupting traffic along the Mayai Lambi road, this morning at around 11am.

Meanwhile, soon after receiving information about the disruption of traffic along the busy road, police personnel of Mayang Imphal Police station led by its OC Anil arrived at the scene and pacified the agitating students.

Meanwhile, Kh Deepak general secretary of the students’ union of the school in a press conference held at the school complex expressed it as unfortunate that instead of looking into their demands made to the education minister DD Thaisii and local MLA Dr. Kh. Ratankumar during the teachers’ day celebration of the school on September 28 regarding implementation of school infrastructures, the government has sent in a new principal-in-charge.

He further mentioned that even though the student body had demanded a regular principal for the school and teachers for the subjects of Chemistry, English, Commerce etc, the government has sent only a principal in charge.

He further stated that, the students of the school will never compromise on the transfer of H Kunjabihari Singh, who has sacrificed his entire service period for the upliftment of the school.

Demanding revocation of the transfer order of H Kunjabihari Singh, principal in-charge, the students’ union has decided to launch an indefinite Mayai Lambi bandh from 5am tomorrow, said the general secretary of the students’ union.
