UNLF alleges Ingobi was killed in staged encounter

IMPHAL October 8: The proscribed UNLF in a press statement signed by its senior publicity secretary Ksh Yoiheiba has tender its revolutionary salute to lt. Yenkhom Ingobi.

The statement charged that lt Ingobi alias Suresh alias Satyaban, s/o Y Saratkumar of Mayang Imphal Kokchai was apprehended by personnel of the 18th Sikh Regiment posted at Maibam Lokpa ching during the adjoining night of October 6 and 7. He was later taken to Kangmong Sabal Meisnam Leikai and after severe torture was done to death, there were no weapons in his possession as claimed by the security forces and it was a staged encounter, the release said.

It said that Ingobi joined the ranks of the MPA I in 1995. He was deputed to 292 Bn (MTF) and Zulu Task Force which operated at Barak and Jiribam .Later he was transferred to the organization department in 2007 and in 2010 undertook oath as a cadre of the UNLF. He was later given the status of Thoubal district secretary and later as district secretary of Lamangdong district. He was a responsible and principled cadre who worked for the betterment of the outfit. He is survived by his wife and a four month old son.

It has further stated that the UNLF condole the demise of Ingobi and added that many souls have been martyred in the struggle for independence, those who laid down their lives are forever etched in the history of the state and provides vigor to the struggle, it stated.
