Verification of surrendered militants begins for implementation of surrenderee policy

IMPHAL, October 5: The state home department has recently begun verification of the surrendered UG cadres for the implementation of Surrenderee Policy in the state as per the directive of the ministry of home affairs (MHA).

In this regard, a state level screening committee comprising of officers belonging to both state and central para-military forces has been constituted for verification of the surrenderees.

The Surrenderee Policy has been designed to provide rehabilitation packages to the militants who have laid down arms to join the mainstream.

An official source mentioned that the state government has taken up the task of verification, in particular for those militants who have surrendered to the Indian Army and other para-military forces. 

As a result, 25 surrendered militants belonging to UPRA have been verified. They are A Thangboi Vaiphei, 25, s/o Khaipu Vaiphei, of Phaiphen, chandel village, James Maycn, 32, s/o Ringshows of Kolmathabi village, SH. Mark, 22 of Thamnapopkpi village, Chandel districts,, Monom Vaiphei, 21 of Shaluk village, Chandel district, Sh Pelson Moyon , 26 of Manzang village Chandel district, Momon Veiphei, 21, of Torbung village, Chirachandpur district, SK.Johnson Lamkang 21, of  Saktai Karong village, Chandel district.

The state screening committee meeting held recently also verified the status of various cadres of the outfit PREPAK who have already surrendered. They have been identified as Sanasam David Singh alias Thoupuba of Sawombung village, Kshetrimayum Munal Singh, 21, of Tangkham village, Ahanthem Vicky Sing, aliasJackson, 18 of Awaombung gate, Heikrujan Roshan Singh alias, Dada, 20,of Yumnam Huidrom, Nameirakpam Anand Meitei alias Basi of Yairipok Nongbram, Md Abdul Rahman alias Boycha , 25 of Bishnupur, MA Abdul Rahman alias Naobi of Bishnupur, Md Nazir Khan lais Umaibi of Irong Makha Leikai.

Further according to the source, the state screening committee has also conducted the official verifications of  surrendered cadres belonging to different militant groups identified as Mutum Jiten Singh alias Jiban 30, of Oinam Mamang Leikai belonging to KCP,  Laishram Rishikanta Singh alias Khoiromngakpa alias Aboy alias Kanta, 19, of  Yairipok Khoirom Mkha Leikai belonging to UNLF,  Thokchom Nanao Singh, alias Wangpuren, 28 of Ngaikhon Khunou Awang Leikai, belonging UNLF,  Md Salam Khan alias Azad Khan, 22 of Yairipok Tulihal belonging to PULF,   Yanger AO alias Tsutir, 31 of Makokchung Nagaland belonging to NSCN(IM),  Salem AO alias James, 28 of Nagaland belonging to NSCN (IM), Moirnagthem Rabi Singh, alias Taton, 30 of Irengbam Awang Leikai and  Thokchom Tomba Singh alias Madhop, 32 of Heirok bazaar both belonging to KYKL organization.

The official further mentioned that, there would be effective implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes of surrenderee policy in the state, by providing all necessary assistance from the state government to all surrendered militants belonging to different under grounds/militant groups operating in the state in the nearest future top come.

In the meantime, the official first round of verifications of the surrendered militants by the constituted state level committee was enable to complete with proper guidance from the state IGP (Int), Brigadier 57 MT Div., IGAR (South), DGP, Manipur, and IGP (CRPF), the official source added.

The second round of verifications of the surrendered militants from the state will be held soon by the state level committee for the proper and successful implementation of the policy, the source added.
