IMPHAL, Oct 5: A young woman was found drowned in a pond at Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai in Imphal west district at around 6 am today.
The deceased has been identified as Loitongbam Bala, 23, d/o Ingocha of Kongjeng Leikai.
According to family sources, Bala had gone out to fetch water from the pond which is just a few metres away from her house at around 5 am this morning. However, some morning walkers found her body in the pond.
The police have registered an FIR regarding the case.
The dead body was later handed over to the family members after conducting post-mortem examination at RIMS Mortuary.
