Bhagyachandra national festival of Classical Dance kicks off

IMPHAL, Nov 10: The three-day Bhagyachandra National Festival of Classical Dance was inaugurated today by Chief Minster Okram Ibobi at Kaina, Imphal East.

However, the performances of the festival will be inaugurated by the Governor Gurbachan Jagat at Kangla Hall tomorrow.

Speaking at the inaugural function at Kaina, Chief Minister maintained that Kaina is a holy place associated with Lord Krishna popularly known as Shri Shri Govinda.

He asserted that Manipur is famous worldwide for its rich tradition, art and culture.

Chief Minister further announced that the state government would try to develop Kaina which is one of the popular places of pilgrimage.

Ibobi also stated that the Manipuris should be proud of hosting such national festival of classical dance here in the state.

State chief secretary, DS Poonia presided over the inaugural function of the festival.
