CACSD to organize silent rally against Sadar Hills MoU

IMPHAL November 10: The Committee Against the Creation of Sadar Hills District (CACSD) will organize a silent rally on November 17 to denounce the recently signed memorandum of understanding between the government of Manipur and Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee.

A press release by M Panam, co-convenor of the CACSD has stated that the principle to declare Sadar Hills as a full fledged district by adding another three new sub divisions to the existing three with the intention to form a Kuki homeland is not agreeable.

The Zeliangrong people demand for restoration of their lands to Tamenglong district prior to any agreement entered between the Manipur government and any parties have failed to materialize, therefore, the time has come for the Zeliangrong people to rise in unison against the divisive policy of the state government, it said.

The body appealed to the public to extend co-operation and support towards the genuine demands of the Zeliangrong people and to participate in the said public rally.
