Chief Minister meets Governor, inspects developmental projects ahead of PM`s visit

IMPHAL, November 25: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today met with Governor Gurbachan Jagat at the Raj Bhavan at 3:30pm considering the high profile visit of the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh and UPA chief Sonia Gandhi, informed a highly placed official.

During the meeting the two state heads discussed the overall preparation for the proposed December 3 visit of the Prime Minister and AICC president Sonia Gandhi, the source further informed.

The Governor has advised the Chief Minister to expedite the various projects undertaken in the state under the Prime Minister’s Package before the Prime Minister’s visit to the state, the source further added.

Another advice of the Governor for the Chief Minister was to improve the present law and order situation in the state considering the visit of the Prime Minister and the UPA chairman.

The SPF spokesperson N Biren had informed media persons yesterday that  the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is likely to arrive on December 3.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister had also conducted an inspection tour of the various development projects undertaken in the state today.

The Chief Minister inspected the ongoing construction works of City Convention Centre and the Manipur Film Development Corporation Building at Palace gate, Inter State Bus Terminus at Khuman Lampak, High Court complex and the Capitol Project at Chingmeirong and further expressed his satisfaction over the pace of construction works and further advised the officials concerned that every effort should be made for overall completion of the projects on time.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by works minister K Ranjit Singh, PDA chairman Kh Loken Singh and officials concerned during the inspection.
