Children`s Day observed in state

IMPHAL, Nov 14: The 122nd birth anniversary of late Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, was widely observed today in the state.

The day was observed at Dhani Anganwadi Centre-Khongnang Pheidekpi Mayai Leikai, Langthabal. The organizing committee distributed gifts for children of the Anganwadi centre.

Meanwhile, to commemorate Children’s Day the Sainik School Imphal conducted its cross country race on November 14, to spread the message of peace, progress and prosperity among the villagers.

The PIB Defense Wing in a statement stated that every year this event is conducted to develop stamina, strength and sportsmanship amongst the cadets. Col Dr Ravi Kumar, the school Principal flagged off the 10.5 kms race in which 100 cadets took part. Netaji House bagged the overall Championship Trophy. Cadet Talisunap Longkumar of Class XII (40.35 min) stood overall first while cdt Bimolchand of Class XI (41.15 min) and cdt Tadang Rai of Class X (41.25 min) bagged second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded with medals, certificates and cash prizes. Later in the evening, a musical concert was organised with famous artists from Manipur providing entertainment for the children, it stated.
