IMPHAL, Nov 15: Discovering the movement of UG cadres in general area Khoirom, troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in the area and apprehended one PLA cadre today, identified as Wairak Amsan Sanaham Singh alias Nongbamba,30, s/o W Bijay Singh, of Khoirom. One hand grenade was recovered from his possession, stated a release of PRO IGAR (S).
Later, troops of 30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) along with Sekta Police launched joint operation in general area Sekta and apprehended one KCP (Noyon) cadre today. The apprehended cadre is identified as Phijam Indra alias Ingba,40, s/o (late) Angoba of Sekta Mayai Leikai. One Chinese hand grenade was recovered from the apprehendee.
In yet another incident, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in general area Ward No.7, Moreh and apprehended one UPPK cadre on November 14. The apprehendee was identified as Tenao Singh, 21, s/o Thoiba Singh, of Heinmakang Ward No.7, Moreh. 28 live rounds of AK 47 along with two magazines were recovered from his possession, the release of PRO IGAR (S) said.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal east district police and a column of 30 AR arrested one KCP (Noyon) cadre today around 4:45 am from Sekta Makha Leikai and recovered one Chinese made hand grenade.
A statement issued by the SP Imphal east district police, the arrested cadre has been identified as Phijam Ingba alias Ebai Singh, 41, s/o (L) Ph. Angouba Singh of Sekta Makha Leikai.
During interrogation the arrested militant disclose to have joined the group in the year 2007 through one Iswor, a self styled Imphal east district commander and currently working under the command of s/s oganiser secretary Chairenlakpa of the proscribed group, it said.
He is also informed to have involved in extortion activities and transportation of arms and ammunitions.
