Governor`s greeting

IMPHAL, Nov 6: The Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat greeted the people of Manipur and specially the Muslim brethren on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.

The Governor said “the festival of Id-ul-Zuha exemplifies the spirit of sacrificing our ego and narrow self-interest at the altar of the common good. It exhorts us to work for peace, amity, brotherhood and harmony among all sections of society. It is an occasion to remember and take ispiration from the selfless sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim for the betterment of humanity. The festival also reminds us of the significance of sacrifice and charity without which the responsibilities of life can not be fulfilled”.

“On this auspicious occasion, we should resolve to work towards unity, goodwill, universal peace and brotherhood in Manipur”, it said.

Meanwhile, Major General  UK Gurung, YSM, IGAR (South) and all Ranks of Assam Rifles in a statement extended a very warm greetings and sincere good will to the ‘People of Manipur’ on the occasion of “IDU’L ZUHA(BAKRID)”.

IGAR (South) further wished that, the festival heralds an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and helps enhancing the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the warm and friendly people of all the communities of the state of Manipur.

Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, VSM, General Officer Commanding Red Shield Division has greeted the people of Manipur, Assam, Tripura and  Mizoram on the festive occasion of Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid). 

In a statement he conveyed “May this festival bring Peace, Harmony, Prosperity and Happiness in the lives of all.  He appealed to the people to contribute toweards the promotion of brotherhood and camaraderie to bring in peace and prosperity to the region the days ahead”.
