IED found near police firing range at Mantripukhri

IMPHAL, November 3: One Chinese hand grenade was found this morning near the gate of the Women Income Generation Centre Thoubal Wagmataba, early this morning at around 6am.

The bomb was found lying near the gate by the sweeper of the centre this early morning and reported it to the police. The police later came and picked up the explosive and later disposed it.

Speaking to media persons, chief functionary of the centre, O Indira stated that in case the bomb had exploded, the inmates of the centre could have been hurt. She further decried the action and added that such actions should be condemned as reckless and inhuman.

She has further appealed tothe concerned parties that they could personally come to her Thoubal Ningombam residence if they have anything against her. 

She further expressed  that the grenade threat could be related to her political ambition. It could be a threat to her as she is aspiring to fight the coming general election. 

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a powerful IED was found just a few feet away from the firing range at Mantripukhri near the 39 Battalion CRPF, this morning at around 11am.

According to the police, the Imphal east police was informed by some locals about a suspicious object lying in the vicinity of the firing range this morning. A team of the district police later found the object to be an IED explosive.

The police while picking up the IED informed media persons that it look a bit rustic and old.
