Man killed in LPG cylinder blast

IMPHAL, Nov 24: A man was killed when a domestic LPG gas cylinder exploded this evening at Langthabal Lap, under Singjamei Police station.

The victim has been identified as Khaidem Imocha, 42, s/o Chaoba of Langthabal Lap.

According to reports, following some leakage from the cylinder the victim was trying to repair the cylinder on his own when he noticed that the temperature of the cylinder had suddenly risen. Subsequently, in an attempt to cool the cylinder the victim threw the cylinder into his courtyard pond however the cylinder exploded.

The explosion inflicted several splinter injuries on the victim’s body. He was rushed to RIMS by the family however the victim succumbed to his injuries on the way, asserted the report.

The report further said that the blast was so powerful that the upper half of the cylinder landed about 400 metres away from the blast site.
