Manipur awarded for best governance in CM conclave

IMPHAL, November 4: Manipur has been conferred with the award of ‘Best Improved State in Governance among small States of India’ in the India Today Chief Minister Conclave held on November 4 in New Delhi, informed Sumant Singh secretary to the Chief Minister in a statement.

It said that the award was received by Md Allaudin Khan, minister Rural Development and Panchayati Raj on behalf of the Chief Minister of Manipur from Union finance minister, Pranab Mukherjee at Hotel Hyatt New Delhi.

The statement stated that the selection of Manipur for the award was based on the Annual Survey of States of India conducted by India Today Group. The parameters of the award in respect of this sector included trends of crime rate, strength of civil police and other law and order related norms, it further asserted.

It further informed that Assam also received the Award in the category of most improved State in Governance among large states. Mizoram state was conferred the award for improvement in Agriculture sector, it further informed.

The conclave was attended by the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Assam, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh, it stated.
