IMPHAL, November 5: Two KCP cadres and one PLA cadre were arrested by a combined team of Thoubal district commandos and troops of Assam Rifles during a joint search operation conducted at Thoubal area and recovered one computer set and arms and ammunition from them today.
The SP Thoubal, K Jayenta in a press conference held this evening at the Thoubal district police headquarter identified the three militant cadres as s/s district commander of KCP, Lisham Meghachandra Singh, 42, s/o L Sanahal Leikai, KCP cadre Khundrakpam Bakim Singh alias Naocha alias Naokin, 22, s/o (l) Kh Biren both of Thoubal Haokha Maning leikai and one PLA cadre s/s pvt Md Sana, 38, s/o Md Irabot of Lilong Dam Mathak.
Elaborating on the arrest of the three militant cadres, the SP informed media persons that the two KCP cadres were arrested from Ningombam and Thoubal Haokha areas of Thoubal district during an intensive drive carried out by the combined team of district commandos and personnel of 15 AR, while the PLA cadre was arrested from Lilong by a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and personnel of 28 AR.
Further according to the SP, one 9 mm pistol loaded with four live rounds, two hand grenades, four demand letters of KCP, one mobile handset and four mobile sim cards and one desktop computer set including a HP printer were recovered from the possession of the two arrested KCP cadres.
He also informed that a Maruti 800 car bearing registration no. MN 1A 6275 was also recovered from the two KCP cadres while one 9 mm pistol loaded with six live rounds and one empty case were recovered from the arrested PLA cadre.
He further elaborated that the RPF cadre while trying to escape during his arrest by the security team shot himself at his left thigh with the 9mm pistol which was recovered from him.
He is presently admitted at Raj Poly clinic and undergoing treatment under strict vigil of the police.
The district SP further informed media persons that the arrested cadres have been actively indulging in extortion activities in the general area of Thoubal. The arrested persons along with the seized items/articles have been handed over to the concerned Police stations ie Thoubal and Lilong for further verification, he added.
