IMPHAL, November 23: A person identified as the personal assistant of state education minister DD Thaisii had been reportedly kidnapped by unknown persons yesterday at around 9:30am from the Lamphel area.
The personal assistant identified as KT Joseph, 43, s/o (L) Thaipii of Purul Rosifii village, Senapati was abducted from the Lamphel Fisheries department crossing yesterday by unidentified persons when he was on his way to drop his daughter a class three student to her school on his Bolero Jeep accompanied by a 16 year old helper.
Unidentified persons suspected to be militant cadres stopped his vehicle at the crossing and forcibly entered into the vehicle and one of them drove away the vehicle, a source informed.
However, the report emerged only today, after the kidnappers released the helper and the private secretary’s daughter at Kangpokpi area.
Lamphel police has taken up a case regarding the kidnapping.
Meanwhile, a police source has also confirmed that the person is the private secretary of the minister.
It may be mentioned that the minister had a lucky escape when unidentified persons had attacked the minister and his convoy on November 12, when the minister was going to Purul sub division of Senapati. One IRB subedar was injured in the attack.
Earlier on June 1, 2010 miscreants had set the minister’s Purul residence during the anti ADC election issue.
