IMPHAL, Nov 12: In a commendable gesture Saitu MLA, Haokholet Kipgen donated 5 ‘Emu’ bird the second highest bird next to ostrich, about 5 and half feet tall and weighing about 50 kg in weight to the Manipur Zoological Garden.
An official statement of the Director Manipur Zoological Garden, the 5 birds arrived today at the zoological garden, situated at Iroisemba after being collected from the Sylvan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hengbung, Senapati district on November 10.
The Director acknowledges the MLA’s love for nature and animal and also donation he made which has increased the pride of the Zoological Garden by adding the Emu.
At the same time, it also acknowledges the receipt of one Nongyin Male bird from Hingyanglam MLA, E. Dwijamani, who is also the chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board on November 11.
