Private school body lambastes CM`s private school teachers statement

IMPHAL, November 11: The All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association today condemned the reported statement of the Chief Minister of Manipur terming the private schools’ teachers as not well-trained and can be removed anytime.

The Chief Minister reportedly gave this statement during the inauguration of a training programme for contract graduate teachers of RMSA.

A press conference was held in this connection at the Manipur Press Club attended by key members of the association.

Further denouncing the Chief Minister’s statement the general secretary of the schools association, Th. Sunil, claimed that the private schools are taking 99 percent role in bringing quality education in the state.

Although the private teachers are not trained they are committed and regular in their attendance despite the fact that they are ill paid and unlike the government teachers whose salaries are higher and irregular, lambasted Th. Sunil.

The pass percentage of the private schools in various state level examinations and moreover the parents and the general public is the evidence of the credibility of the private schools, he held.

N. Tomba, advisor of the association, further condemning the statement said that it was very unfortunate that the government failed to acknowledge the performance of the private schools for the past 40 years. He termed the statement as fueling confusion on the reputation and credibility of the private schools and demanded clarification on the intention of the government.

The press conference was also attended by S. Memcha, president of the association and Dorendro Khabanganba, advisor and other active functionaries of the schools’ association.
