Qwami Ekta observed to enhance national integration

IMPHAL, Nov 19: The Qwami Ekta Week was inaugurated today by the state government at the South Block of Manipur Secretariat in remembrance of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Revenue, forest and environment minister Th Devendra graced the inaugural function as the chief guest.

Speaking at the occasion, Th Devendra stated that the significance of observing Qwami Ekta is to enhance the national integration by instilling sense of oneness and brotherhood amongst people of various caste, creed or religion.

The week-long observation will include National Integration Day, Welfare of Minorities Day, Linguistic and Harmony Day, Weaker Section day, Cultural Unity Day , Women’s Day and Conservation Day.

The observation was also attended by state chief secretary DS Poonia and other officials of the state government.

Meanwhile, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also observed the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi today at Congress Bhavan, Imphal.

The Congress leaders led by MPCC president Gaikhangam paid floral tribute to the first woman Prime Minister of the country.
