Raging inferno destroys four houses, three vans completely at Moreh

MOREH, November 17: Four houses and three vehicles were completely razed this morning at Moreh by a violent inferno opposite the Moreh check post at around 9am. 

Locals were infuriated that the Moreh fire brigade failed to arrive in time. Some locals also viewed that timely arrival of the fire brigade could have save some of the properties. The fire raged on for more than an hour.

Even though the origin of the fire is yet to be ascertained, some locals informed that it could have been started from one of Maruti Van workshops.

They further informed that there were two vans inside the workshop when the incident happened. One of the workers of the workshop was also seen smoking a cigarette and trying to fit the oil tank of one of the vans, which could have started the fire, the locals further informed. 

During the fire properties including refrigerators, TVs, almirahs, money, invertor and gold ornaments of the four buildings including a tyre workshop and a Maruti van workshop were almost completely razed. Three Maruti vans from the workshop were also razed during the inferno.

An individual identified as only Kumar informed that two of his buildings which were neighbouring the Van workshop have also been razed completely by the fire. He further informed that one of his houses was inaugurated just a year back.

Two tankers of the 31 AR were utilized in trying to douse the fire. Members of the Moreh branch of AMSU and Auto Association also helped in fighting the fire, the locals further informed.
