School vans to stop transportation from November 23

IMPHAL, Nov 20: A day after the state government announced its policy to ration fuel, passenger vehicles have decided to saty off the roads soon.

The All Manipur School Student Transporters’ Association, in a statement has informed that a regular school van uses around five to eight litres of fuel in a day.

It has further decided to wait till November 22 for the government to work out an amicable solution to the rationing of fuel and incase of failure on the government’s part to do so, the association will stop transportation of school students from November 23.

Meanwhile, unhappy with the government’s policy, passenger vehicles might also decide to stay off the roads soon.

Transporters on Sunday demanded the state government to review its decision of introducing new rationing system of fuel.
