IMPHAL, Nov 18: The Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur (SCS Manipur) has taken serious note of the development of the politico-social crisis in Manipur and adjoining areas, arising out of the publication of the News report of the ` Supra-State Body` to be handed over to Nagaland as a Christmas gift.

A release of the society stated that the surcharged political environment has come out as a consequence of the deliberations and understandings between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM to the proposed political theory and concept for a political solution of Nagaland, and the Nagas as a whole.

The core committee of the Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur has perused all the available documents and details published by the regional and local newspapers, statement by the Chief Minister of Manipur, leaders of political parties, politicians, and statements from the civil societies of the state. Having gone into details of all sources, the committee opined that Manipur will face an unending political, constitutional, administrative, and law and order problem if the wishes and aspirations of the Manipuris to protect their age-old territory are dumped unceremoniously.

Consequently, on 14-15 November, 2011, the core committee of the Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur, resolved that the Supra-State Body, conceptualised by the Government of India and the NSCN-IM, in the present form, texture, and colour (as reported), if implemented, will tantamount to unconstitutional within the meaning and context of the Law of the Land.

`Greater Nagaland` and the `Supra-State Body` are the two sides of the same coin. `Alternative arrangement Territory`, proposed by the Nagas of Manipur, under the guidance of the NSCN-IM, is closely linked to “Supra- State Body` concept, it said.

Implementation of the `Supra-State Body` political concept in Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, with Nagaland as the “Supra-State` (super-power above the three States), will have far-reaching political and constitutional crisis. It may lead to the disintegration of Manipur, a fact-which will not be in the best interest of the Union of India, the release mentioned.

The theoretical concept of the `Supra-State Body` is politically unwise; socially divisive in colour; and negate secularism, the cherished National identity of India as well as Manipur.

All political parties, politicians and social organisations irrespective of caste, creed and religion, need to ponder, analyse and discuss the looming danger of politico-social crisis, which finally will affect the territorial integrity of Manipur.

With no inhibition to political parties, politicians, ethnic groups, religious segments and even armed groups, the need of the hour is to save the integrity of Manipur. It is the only and best optjon for the people of Manipur. There is no other second best option`.

The Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur, with Justice and humility in our mind, hope that New Delhi will do justice to the Manipuris who inhabit the state. Disintegration of Manipur will have a far-reaching politico-strategic impact to the vital National Interest of the Union of India, the release added.
