IMPHAL, November 19: The Static & Operation Group of the state government in a meeting today chaired by the chief secretary DS Poonia at his office chamber had reaffirmed that security and protection of vehicular movement along the national highways during any circumstance will be under the sole responsibility of the concerned security forces in whose jurisdiction the highway stretch fall, informed an official source.
Only central security forces including the army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF have been provided with area jurisdiction along the national highways, however the state forces including police commandos, police, IRB, MR will be utilized during specific operations including as convoys, the source informed.
Further according to the source, the decision of the meeting will be submitted to the Combine Headquarter of the Static & Operation Group for approval, the source informed.
The meeting was attended by the GOC, 57 Mountain Division, DGP Manipur, IGAR South, IGP CRPF Manipur and Nagaland sector, DIG BSF Manipur and Nagaland sector, director Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau, Imphal, commissioner home, the source informed.
