Son dies after father stabs him over a minor altercation

IMPHAL, November 19: In a bizarre incident, a man succumbed after being stabbed by his own father after a brief altercation last night at Changangei Makha Leikai under Lamphel police.

According to local source, the incident happened at around 9:30pm Friday night. The victim son has been identified as Heikrujam Drawin alias Tarun, 30, a Sub Inspector of the state police presently posted at Lamlai Police station while the father who is absconding since the incident happen has been identified as H Rajendra, 58 a lecturer at the Nambol Sanou college.

Locals informed that there were sounds of some loud altercation between the father and the son last night. The father all of a sudden stabbed his son at his right abdomen, and on hearing the loud cries of the Drawin, the neighbours rushed out and took the injured Drawin to RIMS. Drawin, however succumbed to his injuries at around 1am Saturday, the locals further informed.

Meanwhile, the father is reported to be absconding after the incident, the locals added.

The dead body has been handed over to family members for his last rites after post-mortem.

The concerned police have registered a case regarding the crime.

Local sources have further informed that Drawin had wedded just about a year ago and he is survived by his wife.

Meanwhile in an unrelated incident a personnel of the 36 Assam Rifles presently posted at the Sajik Tampak post was found dead with a bullet injury at his right-side eye while on sentry this early morning.

Police source has identified the jawan as rifleman Kavindra Chaudhury, 38 of Bihar.

The jawan was on night sentry duty last night and was found by other jawans of the post this early morning with the bullet injury, the police informed media persons. Meanwhile, it is yet to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or murder, the police informed.

The Chakpikarong police have registered a case regarding the death of the jawan.
