IMPHAL, November 9: Former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha has alleged that the Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government has links with the banned underground organizations of the state.

The senior BJP leader was addressing a press conference at the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal today.

Yashwant Sinha further alleged that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and other functionaries of SPF government harbour several underground organizations in the state. Ibobi would have been arrested long time back if he were not the Congress Chief Minister.

He further maintained that he has learnt about the suffering of the common people due to economic blockade during his two-day visit to the state. A doctor of JNIMS told him that normal functioning of JNIMS and other hospitals in the state has been disrupted due to blockade.

The Prime Minister has sent a delegation of experts to look into the core issues of Jammu and Kashmir, but such delegation has not been considered by the centre with respect to the problems of Manipur, he averred.

Yashwant stated that the BJP would raise the issues of Manipur at the Parliament and urge upon the political parties to form a high-power Parliamentary Committee to inspect the prevailing conditions of Manipur.

Taking a dig at the SPF government’s 10-year rule in Manipur, former Union Finance Minister stated that President’s Rule must be promulgated in the state to maintain proper law and order in the state. The President’s Rule would also ensure free and fair poll in the coming state assembly election, he noted.

Yashwant Sinha also appealed to the people to render utmost support to the BJP to bring peace and development in the state.

The press conference was also attended by state BJP president Sh Shantikumar Sharma and BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javedkar.
