State cabinet to discuss Jiribam district formation agendas today

IMPHAL, November 15: In follow-up to the recent Memorandum of Understanding signed between the government and the Jiribam District Demand Committee recently, the Chief Minister will convened a cabinet meeting at his official bungalow to discuss various agendas regarding the formation of a full-fledged Jiribam district.

According to a reliable source, the agenda to be discuss by the cabinet tomorrow will likely be the transfer of all legal admissible powers of the SP to the Addl SP, Jiribam in respect of Jiribam and upgradation of the existing Gularthol police outpost into a police station and the upgradation of the existing Borobekra Revenue Circle into a sub-division and posting of SDPO.

The cabinet will further discuss the opening of Science stream in the Jiribam aided college from the next session, creation of necessary infrastructure including human resources and creation of sufficient number of posts for the college under the UGC norm and Manipur University, the source added.

Another agenda of the cabinet meeting will be the upgradation of Government Borobekra High School to the status of Higher Secondary School and Khengjoy primary schools to the status of high school and the upgradation of Primary Health Sub-Centre, Khengjoy to the status of Primary Health Centre, the source added.
