State lawyers to abstain from court works due to fuel shortage

IMPHAL, November 2: High Court Bar Association, Manipur has resolved to abstain from the works of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench with effect from November 2 till the matter of unavailability of petroleum products is reviewed on November 8.

The association has also submitted a representation to the Union home minister through the Governor of Manipur today.

In the representation, the association urged the Union home minister to direct the state government to make available of adequate essential commodities in the market at reasonable prices and open up all bandhs and economic blockades using law enforcement machineries.

The association also demanded establishment of National Highway Protection Force for all time protection of all highways in the state, establishment of separate High Court for the state and prevention of black-marketing of essential commodities.

The Bar Association also urged the Union home minister to resolve the insurgency issues of the state through political negotiation.
