State making hectic preparations to welcome PM and Congress president

IMPHAL, Nov 29: The state government is making hectic preparations ahead of the official visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohon Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to the state capital on December 3.

The City Convention Centre and MFDC Building at Palace Compound and Capitol Complex at Chingmeirong which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister are underway for the “finishing touch”. 

Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan today, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam stated that the Congress-led SPF government is all set to welcome Prime Minister Manmohon Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other union ministers to the state capital on December 3.

He stated that various developmental work have been implemented in the state right from the inception of SPF government with kind blessings from the UPA government.

Gaikhangam further maintained that the SPF government under the supervision of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has been able to expand various forms of major development projects in both hill and valley districts thereby bringing uniform development to the state.

MPCC president asserted that the central UPA government has acknowledged the works of SPF government during the last 10 years in the state and hence the centre is not reluctant to sanction huge development fund for the state.

Gaikhangam further maintained that the official visit of Prime Minister Manmohon Singh and UPA chairman Sonia Gandhi is not related with the political issue as their visit to the state is solely in the true spirit of the central government for the upliftment of the the people of the state.

He also mentioned that the Prime Minister’s visit is a boon to the state as there is possibility of getting more new projects and schemes for the state under the PM Package.

The state Congress chief further appealed to the people to render utmost help and cooperation to the state government in welcoming the eminent leaders of the country.
