Supra state, a threat to state`s territorial integrity: Nimaichand

IMPHAL, November 19: The proposed “Supra State Body” for the Nagas is a first step towards disintegrating the territorial integrity of the northeast, stated MPP president Nimaichand Luwang during a sit-in-protest demonstration organized by MPP Youth Front today at its office complex near Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

He further maintained that the MPP strongly opposes the formation of “Supra State Body” which is likely to harm the territorial integrity of Manipur and other northeastern states including Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The MPP president further warned the state government of ill consequences if the “Supra State Body” comes into effect.

He also announced that a mass movement will soon be launched to make the people aware of the “Supra State Body”.

The people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will also join the movement against the formation of “Supra State Body” for Nagas, MPP president noted.

Meanwhile, Nimaichand also condemned the act of burning down the floating huts on the Loktak Lake by the state authorities in the name of cleaning up the lake. The floating huts are the cynosure of the Loktak Lake, but the state government has evicted the fishers from the lake without any prior information.
