IMPHAL, November 4: Alleging the Indian Oil co-operation (IOC) of being responsible for the present scarcity of petroleum products in the state, the Transporters and Drivers’ Council (TDC), has informed that they are prepared to file a Public Interest Litigation against the co-orperation.

The TDC further informed that they will stop transportation of rice for the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD), until the OSD of the department RK. Binoy is removed from his post.

A press conference was held in this connection at the TDC office, MG Avenue this evening.

Speaking to media persons during the conference the TDC president H. Ranjit, has alleged that there has been irregularities and biasness while allotting diesel to the truckers who are engaged in transportation of essential commodities.

Ranjit decried that RK. Binoy, did not provide any diesel allocation till late in the evening today for trucks who were supposed to leave Imphal to bring in rice, on the pretext of lack of security escort.

However, he maintained that RK. Binoy, have released altogether 36 kl for oil tankers and LPG carrier trucks separately on October 29, November 2 and 3 at the PCTC and K. Nilo oil pumps respectively.

He further alleged that as per an investigation conducted by the TDC most of the oil tankers, LGP carriers had failed to recieve their share.

Around 400 of the total trucks under the TDC are engaged in the transportation of rice from outside the state, Ranjit said. The attitude meted towards the trucks is proof of manipulation for personnel gain. “This is nothing but the act of a crook, to misappropriate diesel for his personnel gain”, asserted H. Ranjit.

The president drew the attention of the minister concerned to intervene into the matter and asserted that the trucks will stop their work until RK. Binoy is removed from his post along with a white paper on the alleged irregularities.

In the meantime, H. Ranjit further conveyed that the TDC is prepared to file a PIL against the IOC charging the co-operation of being responsible for the crisis of petroleum products in the state.

The IOC will also be asked to compensate for all the lost it has inflicted upon the people, he said.

The IOC has become incompetent and has time and again failed to meet the demands of people. “It is the IOC who should intervene into the crisis and put their maximum efforts to make petroleum products abundant in the state. The duty of the state government is to give security arrangement”, said Ranjit.
