Two labourers shot at; bomb left at residence of Adhyaksha in separate incidents

IMPHAL, November 16: Two excavator operators were shot at by suspected UKLF cadres at Sajik Tampak area in Chandel district.

According to a reliable source, the two workers who were engaged in road construction works under PMGSY were shot by unknown armed miscreants who identified themselves as UKLF last night. Notably UKLF is a signatory group of the SoO with both the centre and state govt.

The injured workers have been identified as H Hemba 25 of Samurou and S.Abung of Terakhongsangbi. Both received bullet injuries on their left hand and are presently undergoing treatment at SHRI, added the source.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, unidentified persons suspected to be militants left a Chinese hand grenade at the residence of Zilla Parishad Adhaksha of Moirang Keiren Phabi in Bishnupur district however the bomb failed to explode, police said. The bomb was found early this morning by family members of the adhyaksha, sources added.

Police also said that miscreants could have left the grenade with the intention to frighten the Adhaksha identified as Tongbram ongbi Hema Devi of Keiren Phabi, adding that the bomb was retrieved by a police team later.
