IMPHAL, November 10: Security forces arrested at least two militant cadres and a peddler of explosive materials from different part of the state during the last 24 hours.
A statement issued by the PIB Defense Wing, stated that a combined team of 5/9 Gorkha Rifles and 33 Assam Rifles under 73 Mountain brigade apprehended a cadre of the proscribed KYKL militant while conducting an operation today in Chingmai Banmon Leikai, Bishnupur district.
The arrested cadre has been identified as one s/s private, Oinam Ahingjao alias Pari, 25, s/o Oinam Zilananba of Chingmai Banmom Leikai.
He is reportedly involved in extortion activities and has been handed over to Moirang police station, it said.
The same statement further informed that troops of 39 AR seized from explosive materials from a passenger of a bus at Songdo check post under Singhat sub-division today.
It said the passenger identified as Paukhenmung, 25, of Singhat, was traveling on a bus from Sinjol to Churachandpur.
From him 10 gelatin sticks, 30 detonators along with safety fuses were recovered. He has been reportedly handed over to Churachandpur police station.
On the other hand, the PRO IGAR (S) in a statement informed that troops of 23 AR apprehended a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (VC) militant on November 9 while conducting an operation in the general area of Nungshum.
The cadre has been identified as s/s sgt. major Konjengbam Amar alias Naocha, 27, s/o Braj Gopal of Nungshum Mayai Leikai-Imphal East.
A .32 pistol with magazine and one live ammunition were recovered from his possession, it said.
