Cabinet approves amendment of Loktak Lake Protection Act

IMPHAL, December 20: Amidst calls from various quarters to review the Loktak Lake Protection Act, the state government has approved the amendment of the Act today.

The said decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister’s bungalow this early morning before the commencement of the 12th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The decision was however disclosed by SPF spokesperson N Biren only this afternoon at his office chamber before media persons.

The government spokespersons further informed the gathered media persons that the cabinet meeting has also approved to provide government jobs to two family members of the Irilbung PHED chowkidar who along with his son was found murdered on December 8 morning.

Further elaborating on the issue, he stated that the home department will provide a job to S Johnson s/o murdered Chowkidar (l) S Ibomcha, who is in class X while S Jayentimala w/o (l) S Geetchandra alias Yaiphu will be allowed to choose a suitable job from either the state education department or health department.

The cabinet has also decided to award a suitable job to S Leima w/o (l) S Yaima who was injured during the PWD blast on December 14 and who later succumbed to his injuries.

Further according to the FCS minister N Biren, the cabinet has also decided to regularize the post of Ayush finance manager, accounts manager, data managers, programme managers and other managers that are attached with the health department currently.

The cabinet has also decided to extend the contracts of 278 Grade IV employees of the Manipur Health Service by another year.
