IMPHAL, Dec 8: The District Magistrate of Imphal West has imposed prohibitory orders in Imphal West district under Section 144 of CrPC with effect from 6pm of December 7, 2011.
According to the order, assembly of five or more persons which is likely to turn unlawful and carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and weapons of any other description or object which can be used as offensive weapons within the area are prohibited. However, the agencies of government involved in the enforcement of law and order and maintenance of essential services are exempted from this order.
Persons who want to take out processions for marriages, funeral and religious purposes etc. within the scheduled area should apply to the District Magistrate for permission and they should not take out procession until the permission is obtained by them.
