DIPR officer suspended on PM speech translation row

IMPHAL, December 6: An APO of Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) identified as Lalrongbawl Hmar has been suspended in connection with indecent translation of Prime Minister’s speech during a public meeting held at Kangla on December 3.

According to sources, the official has been suspended on charge of engaging a translator identified as Khoisnam Tomba who had translated Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s speech into Manipuri indecently. The matter has sparked off fury amongst the state officials.

Meanwhile, the employees of DIPR threatened to launch stern agitations if the authorities do not revoke the suspension order of Lalrongbawl as soon as possible.
