Govt approves financial implication for deployment of addl police force in Jiribam

IMPHAL, December 11: Amidst threats from the Jiribam District Demand Committee to start it’s agitation in case the government fail to fulfil its demand for a full-fledged Jiribam district, the state government is making hectic efforts to developed a district administrative structure in the Jiribam sub division in order to announce it as a full-fledged district at the earliest.

According to a reliable source, the government has recently approved the creation of a SDPO post at Borobekra; transfer of all legal admissible powers of the SP to the addl SP, Jiribam and the upgradation of the existing Gularthol police outpost into a full-fledged Police station and relocate it at Leingangpokpi.

The government has also approved the deployment of one Inspector and four Sub Inspectors, ASIs and another four head constables; 34 police constables and four police drivers at the Leingangpokpi PS, the source added.

The financial implication for the creation of the above additional police force at the PS has been worked out by the state police at Rs 1.15 crore approx. per annum including extra pay for eligible category of the post, which has been already approved by the state finance department, the source further informed.

Expediting its efforts to announced Jiribam district, the government is surveying the finalization of the number of Sub divisions which would be incorporated in the proposed Jiribam district. The state cabinet will further finalized the issue based on the survey report, the source informed.
