JDDC unhappy with government inaction; threatens imposition of blockade along NH 37

JIRIBAM, December 5: President of the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) , M Maipaksana has appraised the state government that the memorandum of understanding signed between the government representatives and JDDC has not been complied to and the organisation is set to resume economic blockade along the NH 37.

Talking to mediapersons at Jiribam, he said that as per the MoU signed, the Manipur government had agreed to up-grade the Jiribam revenue sub division to a full-fledged district status post submission of the report of the District Re-Organization and police boundary committee.

“As the time of three months is over, the government should keep its word”, he said.

Further, he urged that the government should depute the required number of teachers for the aided Jiribam College and mentioned that there are no teachers for the Commerce stream of the Jiribam higher secondary school even as the subject has been introduced for the last three years.

Among the commitment tendered by the government in the MoU, the upgradation of the Borobekra Revenue circle into a revenue sub division along with a block division including posting of an SDPO has not been translated into action. The demands have a stipulated time frame which is by November 2011, he added.

He stated that the MoU was signed in the presence of various civil organizations and the JDDC had endorsed the agreement. He further said that the said understanding had not been entertained within the given time frame and the JDDC will revoke the economic blockade which has remained suspended till date.
