IMPHAL, Dec 5: Imphal west district police commandos have reportedly gunned down a cadre of the suspected KCP (MC) militant and arrested one each cadre of the KYKL and RPF from separate counter insurgency operations since December 1.
An official statement of the SSP Imphal west district police, said that a team of the district commandos gunned down a KCP MC suspect in an encounter at Loitongkhullen area on December 1.
The team also reportedly recovered arms and ammunitions from the encounter site.
The statement revealed that at around 7.45 p.m. (JC No.610) Binoy Irom of 6th IRB attached to CDO/IW received an information that some armed cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party of Kangleipak Military Council (KCP-MC) are loitering with an intend to kidnap innocent persons for ransom and also to attack security forces at the adjoining place of Khurkhul village and Loitang Khunou village areas.
It further asserted that on receiving the inputs, immediately, Binoy along with his party rushed to the said area and conducted frisking and checking at Loitang Khunou Lamkhai along the Pheidinga Khurkhul Road when the team witnessed three youths coming out from Loitangkhullen side in a suspicious manner. They came nearer to the police party and challenged them for their identities, further asserted that statement.
Later the youths turned back and started running in different directions and the police team ordered them to stop. Instead of stopping, they allegedly opened fire towards the police party and the police party also retaliated, further said that release.
A heavy gun fire exchange taken place with the militant suspects for about 5 minutes.
During the ensued gun fire encounter, one of the youths succumbed to his bullet injury at the spot and the others managed to escape by taking advantage of darkness, further claimed the statement.
One 9 mm pistol NORINCO having 2 live rounds, one Chinese hand grenade and 3 empty cases of 9 mm ammunition were recovered from nearby the dead body by the police team, it said.
The Senior SP in separate statement stated that S. Muhindro Singh, MPS deputy SP (Reserve), Imphal West arrested a Self Style corporal of KYKL the same day around 4 pm in the evening from Keishampat Takhel Leikai.
The arrested cadre has been identified as one Leichombam Thoithoi Singh alias Noren, 24, s/o L. Muhindro Singh of Mayang Langjing.
It said on spot verification, the cadre disclosed to have joined the outfit in the first week of August 2003 through one Wangba of Leimapokpam Mayai Leikai of the outfit.
The statement further stated the district police commandos also an active member of RPF/PLA cadre from the main gate of Manipur University around 2.30 p.m. acting on a credible information.
The cadre has been identified as one S/S 2nd Lt. Huidrom (N) Salam (O) Radhamani Devi (41) @ Rubi w/o Salam Arunkumar of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai (Army No. 0450 of RPF/PLA)
She disclosed to have joined RPF/PLA in the year, 1990 through one Angangcha of RPF/PLA and trained at Burma and working in Women Wing Department as assistant secretary, under Ngangbi, Secy, of Women Wing of the outfit, it said.
She was assigned to transport documents relating to outfit from one place to another, added the statement.
