IMPHAL, December 7: The Manipur State Congress Party, Charoichagotlong unit today organized a one day political meeting at the Charoi Tupul local ground.

The meeting was convened as part of an election campaign for MSCP vice president Adim Pamei who will be contesting the ensuing election from the Nungba constituency with a MSCP ticket.

Four ADC members of the Nungba assembly constituency attended the meeting in show of their solidarity to the candidature of Adim Pamei for the ensuing general election. The four ADC members are M Daniel, SG Pamei, Haokholal Singson and Gaiphanglung Gonmei.

Speaking at the meeting, ADC member M Daniel criticised the present MLA of the constituency Gaikhangam for his failure to bring any visible development to the area even though he has been elected as a MLA of the constituency since the past seven terms.

While garnering support for the intending candidate, he further stated that it is the right time for the people of the area to support Adim Pamei and give him a chance to work for the constituency.

While charging the present MLA’s failure to bring any development to the area he further added the MLA should be held responsible for the communication gap between the hills and valley districts of the state. His failure to construct roads and bridges has widened the divide more and as a result the people of the area have faced various difficulties, the ADC member further added.

Further in his address, M Daniel stated that the people of the hill districts of the state have been wrongly implicating that the Manipur state government has been neglecting the people of the hills. It is not the state government or the central government that has been ignoring the hills of the state, but it is the representatives and leaders of the hill districts who have been ignoring the people, he added.

It is time for a change in leadership and work towards development, he further added.

He further urged the people of the area not to sell off their votes and to be wary of money power during the elections.

Meanwhile, Haokholal Singson in his speech stated, “The people of the area should not think that if they vote for MSCP they will not get money, but should rather think for the future”.

The MSCP may not be able to distribute money before the election, however the party will work to develop the Nungba area if given a chance, he further informed.

The people should start working together with the MSCP and bring development to the area.

Addressing the gathering, Abon Gonmei stated that the supporters who have arrived to attend the meeting have come on their own accords, and the party had not even allotted fuel for the journey. The people have come with the main aim to support Adim Pamei and bring a change in leadership to the area.

He further added that there will be many intending candidates who will come with promises for government jobs and money, however once they win the election, the people will not be able to see their faces.

The meeting was also attended by chiefs, village secretaries, presidents of the area.

Meanwhile, during the meeting four village units of the party submitted their progress report of the respective villages.

The meeting further deliberated that the Nungba to Longpi, Khoupum to Renpang, Luwanglong to Nungnang 1, Joujangtek to Noney road stretches of the Old Cachar road are in deplorable conditions.
