PWD complex gets more security personnel following Wednesday`s blast

IMPHAL, December 15: Following the breach of security which resulted in a bomb blast injuring three individuals inside the PWD building Khuyathong yesterday, the office complex has been put under tight security cover since yesterday.

An additional deployment of state forces and other central forces have been put up at the entrance which used to be manned by CRPF personnel before the blast yesterday.

In follow up to yesterday’s blast, a metal detector has been installed at the main entrance and everyone going inside the complex including all employees of the three departments had to pass through the metal detector which is followed by another physical verification.

Vehicles, except for those belonging to employees starting from section officers are not allowed inside the complex. The official vehicles are also allowed entry only after a thorough checking.

An official source meanwhile added that the security arrangement was made during yesterday’s cabinet meeting. The meeting had thoroughly deliberated on the issue and had decided to ban entry of any vehicles except for official ones, the source further added.

The source also added that the cabinet further decided to take up an enquiry and take all necessary actions against those found responsible for the security lapse which had resulted in yesterday’s blast.
