Security meet held in anticipation of Feb elections

IMPHAL, Dec 23: A high level state security meeting was convened by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at his official bungalow this afternoon to consider additional security measures to protect the highways and at the worksites of the major projects taken up in state to prevent any form of disturbances from any organisations.

According to a highly placed official source, the meeting was held from 3 pm this afternoon attended by the GOC 57 Mt. Div, IGAR South, Imphal, Chief secretary DS Poonia, state Home secretary, officials of CRPF and BSF, and discussed the present law and order situation in the state in view of the ensuing elections to the state which is likely to be held in February next year.

The official source further mentioned that the Chief Minister took serious note of the need for special protections along the National Highways of the state and drew the attention of the security officers present in the meeting.

He alerted them to take special security measures to prevent any forms of disturbances by militants to the transporters as well to passengers along the national highways.

The Chief Minister also drew the attention of the security officers to take special security measures at the work sites of the unfinished major projects taken up by the state government in both valley and hills district and advised for immediate need of foolproof security measures to the ongoing railway line constructions in the state.
