State conducts final security rehearsal before PM`s visit

IMPHAL, December 2: The state today conducted the final security rehearsal for the Prime Minister visit to the state tomorrow. The security rehearsal was conducted along the route which has been proposed for the VVIP team to take while in the state tomorrow.

It started from the Imphal airport and passing along the Tiddim road reached till City Convention Centre and the MFDC auditoriam at palace gate, where the Prime Minister will make his first stoppage and inaugurate the two building. From there the security drill continued and after passing through Kangla after entering from its southern gate continued till the Capitol project.

The drill further continued from there till the ISBT, Dewlahland, which the Prime Minister will be inaugurating lastly and went back to Kangla where the VVIPs are likely to address a public meeting tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the PMO has intimated the state government this late evening the tentative schedule for the PM and the UPA chairman, a source has informed. According to the source, the PM and the UPA chairman will be accompanied by MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasami.

Further according to the schedule, the Prime Minister and the UPA chairman will arrive in the state capital at 11:40am by a special aircraft. The high profile team will be received on their arrival at the Imphal airport by a state team led by Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, MPCC president Gaikhangam, chief secretary DS Poonia and state DGP Y Joykumar.

After the formal welcome, the Prime Minister and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will depart for the City Convention Centre at 11:45pm which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister after which the high profile team will further inaugurate the nearby MFDC auditorium, the source added.

The inauguration of the City Convention Centre will be the first of the many buildings that the Prime Minister will be inaugurating during his short visit to the state capital.

The source has further informed that the PM and his team will leave the auditorium for the ISBT bus terminal at Dewlahland, which will be inaugurated at 12:20pm. The Prime Minister will further inaugurate the Manipur Legislative Assembly and the High Court complex inside the Capitol Project, Chingmeirong at 1:05pm.

The Prime Minister will come back to the Raj Bhawan at 1:40pm for lunch and after that will attend a public meeting at Kangla at 2:45pm, the source informed.

The Prime Minister before the start of the public meeting will unveil the foundation stone of the NIT, Lamphel at Kangla using a switch, the source informed.

The public meeting will end at 3:55pm and the Prime Minister, UPA chairman and the other Union ministers will leave for the Imphal airport.

The team will leave Imphal at 4:07pm for New Delhi, the source informed.

Meanwhile, a team of Union ministers including Union minister of law and justice, Salman Khurshid and DoNER minister Paban Singh Ghatowar had arrive in the state capital this morning at 11am and assess the preparations taken up by the state government for the high profile visit of the Prime Minister and the UPA chairman.
