IMPHAL, December 9: Reacting to the United Naga Council (UNC) for intimidating the state government to close down the railway project at Tupul, senior opposition MLA O Joy has demanded the government to take appropriate action against the UNC for its anti-people activities.

The opposition MLA was speaking during the inaugural function of a community hall and public pond at Langthabal Mantrikhong Awang Leikai today.

O Joy further stated that the people of Manipur have been affected by the economic blockade for about four months. Not even the suffering of the people is over; the UNC is again targeting developmental projects in the state.

The government should severely deal with the UNC for its undemocratic and anti-people activities, he enjoined.

Senior MPP leader O Joy further asserted that the MPP is committed to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the state. The party would face any threat to the integrity and unity of the state.

The people of Manipur still have doubts over “Supra State Body” even if the Prime Minister and Home Minister have clarified over this issue. The Seven Sisters Post has boldly published the report on Supra State with all necessary documents, he added.

The political conflict is a major factor for degrading law and order situation of the region, Joy averred.
