UK based `Higher on Maiden` to rock the state

IMPHAL, Dec 12: “Higher on Maiden” UK based rock band and also the official tribute band of the legendary heavy metal band “Iron Maiden” arrived in Imphal this evening.

The rock band is going to perform in Ukhrul, TNL ground, tomorrow and at BOAT, Palace compound on December 15.

A press conference was held late in the evening at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal wherein interaction was held with the band and state media persons.

Talking to media persons, the lead vocal of the band, Ian Mickensie (alias Big Dickinson) spelled out that the band is planning to play 17-18 songs (Iron Maiden song) depending on the response from the crowd.

After leaving Manipur the band will again performed in Dimapur and wind up their North East tour. He however disclosed that the band will be back in Imphal in January 2012.

In the Ukhrul concert the band will be joined by two local band “42 street station” a Guwahati based rock band and “Shrill Rife” Manipur based rock band.

The event is organized by the seven sister rock tour 2011 in collaboration with the oriental pumpkins, Go Manipur, Classic hotel-hospitality management and powered by Nokia.

The band was started in September of 1995 and had so far performed in 12 different countries. This is their first time in the North Eastern Region of India.

The five members band line up are Paul Hewiton (Dave Murray)-guitar-backing vocal, Martin Strickson (speedy Harris)-Bass, Steve Bennett (Quick)-Drum, Steve Parry (Adrian Swift)-Guitar-backing vocals and Ian Mickensie (Big Dickinson) lead vocal.
