ZU (AMN) urges government to look into Oklong-Makuilongdi road construction

IMPHAL, December 15: The Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has stated that the government had awarded the PMGSY package for Senapati-Oklong road to Makuilongdi to one Sh Hungyo, a special contractor of tribal colony, type II no 9, Imphal, however the concern authority and the work agency had not informed or consulted the land owners or the village authority of Oklong even though 90 percent of the land belongs to Oklong village authority.

A press statement has further stated that the union had conducted a consultative meeting on the issue with the neighbouring village of Makuilongdi village Senapati district on November 25.

The statement has further informed that the meeting had resolved that priority should be given to the cutting fron Ramtinglong (Oklong Khunou) to Makuilongdi village and that the implementation of the works should be executed according to the guidelines of the PMGSY programme.

The statement has also informed that the union has learnt that Rs 40 lakhs has already been withdrawn without any construction work done.

The union as such has urged the state government to conduct an immediate inquiry into the matter along with the land owners, the statement added.
