IMPHAL, Jan 28: Continuing its drive for creation of a conducive environment for tomorrow’s assembly elections in the State, 27 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended 11 underground cadres and their sympathizers from Churachandpur area.
In a press statement, PIB (Defence Wing) stated that 38 Assam Rifles apprehended two HPC (D) cadres namely s/s Capt Oliver and s/s Pvt John for intimidating general public along with two sympathizers Shalom Thar and Longasong from Parbung area. The sympathizers were involved in providing logistic support and shelter to HPC (D) cadres.
In other operations 46 Assam Rifles apprehended seven cadres of various proscribed groups from Tuibong area. They were two PLA cadres namely Dinesh Singh, son of Kulla Singh of Tuibong and M Tomba Singh, three PREPAK cadres namely W Sanatomba Meitei, son of Kulla Singh Meitei of Thingkanphai, Dalip Leitongbamand Ibomcha alias Mairamjam, son of M Mani Chand of Sialmat and two UNLF cadres, S Romeo Singh, son of Ivotombi of Old Bazar Mantop Leikai and L Nimanchann Singh, of Tuibong Leikai. All the cadres were handed over to Imphal West police.
On Republic Day, working on specific information of extortion being carried out by KNF (P) cadres in general area T/Waichong, 10 DOGRA Regiment apprehended two cadres of KNF (P), s/s Pvt Jangminlal Kipgen, son of Seipinmang of Sonjang and Lalgou Doungel, son of Paothong Doungel, of Dengel, Senapati. Both the cadres have been handed over to Senapati police station.
