UKHRUL / Jan.12: “Fool proof” precautionary Security Measures are being taken-up in Ukhrul district to ensure “free and fair” poll in the forth coming 10th Manipur State Legislative Assemby (MLA) 2012 election to be held on January 28 next.
Security arrangements have been beefed-up in Ukhrul to safeguard peaceful atmosphere.
Of the 179 total Ukhrul District Polling Stations 144 Polling stations have been declared Hyper sensitive and 35 sensitive poll-booths where some Electronic Voting Machines(EVMs) are mostly likely to be air-lifted, according to a source.
Heavy Security measures have been put in place at Ukhrul with the deployment of Securities personnel from the Companies of CRPF, BSF, SSB, Assam Armed Police, Arunachal Armed Police, Tripura Armed Police and including the Manipur State Police, MR personnel.
They are stationed at the Ukhrul Higher Secondary School halls, Model High School, Mini Secretariat Conference Hall, Ukhrul Town Hall.
A Police Observer from the Central arrangement is on the watch to view the Security arrangement atmosphere in the District for a better, peaceful or “free and fair” conduct of the Democracy election meaningfully.
In the mean time, the Election Office with the Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul as the Returning Officer of the 10th Manipur MLA election had Officially conducted the scrutiny process on the candidatures of the respective political parties fielded in the nomination papers without today at Ukhrul DC`s Chamber peacefully without any report or complaints of disqualifications of any of the nomination papers.
All the 16 Candidates in the fray to contest the election viz the candidates in 43 Phungyar (ST) A/C Victor Keishing of INC, Honreikhui Kashung,NPF,Bontia Keishing MSCP and Teresa Rimai on Shiv Sena party, in 44 Ukhrul Centre A/C Somatai Shaiza TMC, Aleng Shimrah MSCP, Aleng AS. NCP, Alfred Khangam Arthur INC, Samuel Risom, NPF and RS. Turner IND and in 45 Chingai ST. A/C MK. Preshow INC, Khashim Vashum IND, Paul Muinao NPF and NK. Shimray IND are declared valid.
