It was inaugurated formally in University of Hyderabad football ground in 2011, June. It was attended by nearly 200 Manipuri residents of Hyderabad. HYMS was formed with an aim to set up a platform for the people of Manipur who are currently residing in and around Hyderabad. HYMSs’ main objective is to provide better connectivity among Manipuris in Hyderabad and it acts as an agent for such a thought out connectivity. It also extends support when required to this group of people apart from organizing cultural event, community awareness programmes and sports activities. With such activities and objectives in mind, HYMS aims to spread peace, harmony, mutual respect of ‘differences’ between different communities.

HYMS maintains an annual calendar. In the last eight months since its formation, HYMS has managed to rise up to many occasions which deserve appreciation. In its infancy period, HYMS has oranised a sit-in-protest against the draconian AFSPA (1958) on 2nd Oct. 2011 at Ambedkar Statue, Tank Bund, Hyderabad in collaboration with National Alliance for People Movement : http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-andhrapradesh/article2507525.ece
