CPI (ML) to take out `remove AFSPA` rally

IMPHAL, Mar 26: The CPI (Marxist Leninist) will be organizing a rally along the Parliament Street, New Delhi on March 27 to appeal the government to remove AFSPA from Manipur and Kashmir.

The rally will be joined by CPI (Marxist Leninist) members from across the nation and other organizations including Manipur Students’ Association, Delhi, Manbi Leima Democratic Women’s Front and others.

A press meet in the regard was held at the Delhi Press Club this afternoon.

At the meet, it was detailed to the media about the various atrocities carried out by the army under the veil of AFSPA. The need to remove the act from the North east and Kashmir was also highlighted at the meet.

Talking to IFP, Rojesh Meitei, a representative of the ‘Save Sharmila Campaign’ said that a 6 member team have arrived at the national capital from the state to partake in the rally and the public meeting to be held afterwards. He stated that the main emphasis of the rally will be highlighted on Irom Sharmila’s eleven years ongoing hunger strike demanding removal of AFSPA from the state.

An awareness campaign was also carried out at Delhi University Arts campus today.
