Establishment of village vigilance committee mulled

UKHRUL, March 28: A three-day long Workshop “Training Needs Assessment” under the aegis of the Ukhrul district administration organized by the State Academy of training and district administration for village level functionaries kicked-off today at Ukhrul Multipurpose Hall, Mini Secretariat at 10am. The workshop will end on March 30.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner R. Sudhan, IAS who also acted as the chief guest.

The function cast a certain spell over the people of the district with a huge knowledge bank aimed mainly towards fostering of women’s active participation in any central government’s developmental projects in the district.

Leaders from more than 40 women’s league organizations from to Ukhrul district blocks, Ukhrul and Chingai, including Tangkhul Shanao Long,TSL, the apex Women’s Organization attended the programme. They were addressed on the nodal knowledge about the latest trends of developments taking place during a round table discussion by the Ukhrul DC and other concerned departmental heads in the first day of the workshop.

Comprehensively, the Development Support Communication on issues related to Public Distribution System (PDS), specifically concerning the distribution of BPL, APL and AAY classification cards recognition where every BPL and AAY Card holders deserved to enjoy 35 kilograms of rice every month and that of APL with 6.6 Kgs in a “nut-shell” information was imparted by the DC Ukhrul.

The DC further gave a note on establishing a vigilance committee in every village with the concern headman as the chairman and Youth’s, Women’s representatives to form the council members of the committee to check the specification of food-grains.

The third but the most important step is to maintain records of the received items along with the quantities measure and submit the up-dated reports to the concern SDOs and later to DC.

The discussions on the issues of ICDS, MNREGS and NHRM were also discussed and imparted close knowledge to the participants in the first session whereas the programmes of Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDM), SSA, National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), SGSY and IAY remained in the second sessions during the function.

The Function was moderated by Jubibilate Kazingmei, director VVD Ukhrul.
