`Indian army frustrated`

IMPHAL, March 31: United Revolutionary Front (URF) on Saturday said the Indian Army is now ‘frustrated and degraded.’

A statement issued today by AK Pibarel, secretary information and publicity of URF said, the Indian army has abandoned its basic duties and is now focusing on civic action programmes.

Dubbing the army as an institution neck deep in corruption the release said, the Army chief General VK Singh was reportedly offered Rs 14 crores as a bribe by former Lt. General Jetinder Singh for his approval to purchase 600 outdated TATRA military vehicles from abroad and it caused a ruckus over the controversy in the Parliament on March 27.

Secondly, neighboring China is fast developing in all fronts while India is being engulfed by widespread corruption, the URF note alleged.

Thirdly, India has been seriously criticized by the world community on imposition of AFSPA in Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast and that now the Indian military cannot find faults with the revolutionary movements in the region.

It is indeed the beginning of the freedom fighters in the region to step into the right path as the frustration within the Indian Army and the shame faced in the political system of the country have strengthened the freedom movements in the region, URF added.
